Māia named as a Strategic Charity Partner of Venues Ōtautahi

Two leading Christchurch organisations are joining forces, with Māia Health Foundation being named as a strategic charity partner of choice by Venues Ōtautahi.

“This is an amazing opportunity for Māia. The Venues Ōtautahi team has delivered exceptionally well for Māia over the years. Their team are as passionate about the Christchurch community as we are, and the experiences they create are second to none,” says Garth Gallaway, Chair of Māia Health Foundation.

The three-year partnership deal will see Māia hold its signature event ‘Feast’ at One NZ Stadium in May 2026. The stadium, which will be operated by Venues Ōtautahi, is due to open in April 2026.

Garth says the chance to cement Māia’s relationship with Venues Ōtautahi through a formal charity partnership demonstrates Venues Ōtautahi's confidence in Māia, and the importance and power of partnerships in the philanthropic sector.

“We are so proud to have been chosen as one of their charity partners,” Garth says.

Caroline Harvie-Teare, Chief Executive of Venues Ōtautahi, says Venues Ōtautahi are delighted to be partnering with Māia Health Foundation as one of its strategic charity partners.

“Delivering positive community outcomes is a core focus of our business and we view our charity partnerships as critical to achieving our mission to deliver positive social, cultural, environmental and economic benefits to the region. We have had a long-standing partnership over the years and can’t wait to welcome Māia Health Foundation to One New Zealand Stadium in 2026 and to seeing the Foundation’s ongoing success in supporting members of our community who need it most,” Caroline says.

One NZ Stadium will set a new standard for venues in New Zealand, offering a 36,000 capacity, acoustics to rival the best arenas globally, and a range of function spaces in which Venues Ōtautahi will deliver truly customised guest experiences.

Garth says Feast 2026 at One NZ Stadium will be an event not to be missed.

“Venues Ōtautahi and One NZ Stadium will deliver a world-class product. It will be a privilege to host our iconic Feast event at what will be a truly exceptional venue. We can’t wait,” Garth says.

The inaugural Māia ‘Feast’ was held in 2017. Since then, the event has raised $1.1 million for various health projects in Canterbury.
