Local Business Donates Bright Yellow Flexipave to Burwood Hospital Sensory Garden
Burwood Hospital's new sensory garden is receiving a vibrant makeover, thanks to a generous donation from local paving company, Plexi Pave NZ. The company is providing and installing bright yellow flexipaving free of charge. The new pathway will not only add a playful touch but also serve as a clear visual guide for patients navigating the space.
Designed specifically for patients with dementia and paraplegia, the sensory garden aims to create a calming and stimulating environment to promote well-being.
Jules Faulls, owner of Plexi Pave, said the project holds personal significance for him. His cousin, Jeremy, tragically became a quadriplegic after a car accident in Bali in 1988, during his gap year. “My cousin’s experience had a profound impact on him, his mother, and our family,” said Jules. “I saw firsthand the challenges he faced, going from a sportsman who loved rowing to someone completely dependent on others. It wasn’t easy. I hope this garden can offer some solace and joy for the patients at Burwood Hospital.”
A heartfelt thank you to Mel and Jules at Plexi Pave for their generous contribution. Your donation will undoubtedly make a lasting difference in the lives of the patients.
The sensory garden is expected to be completed soon and will feature a variety of sensory elements, including fragrant plants, textured surfaces, and interactive installations. The bright yellow pathway will be a central feature, guiding patients through the garden and encouraging them to explore and engage with their surroundings.
