  • It takes a community to make our health services even better.

Māia Health Foundation is the official charity of Te Whatu Ora Health NZ Waitaha Canterbury.

Māia helps raise and manage funds for specialist areas within the health system. We work closely with Te Whatu Ora and other service areas to raise funds for projects that are not always publicly funded.

We've helped to fund a large future-proofed rooftop helipad for Christchurch Hospital Hagley, enhancements for the new children’s facilities, improvements at Burwood Spinal Unit, and other projects that without community fundraising may simply not have happened.

Thanks for making a difference. The generosity of people like you makes a real difference for those needing our health services.

Healthcare workers are committed to providing patients with the best treatment and care during a time when they are at their most vulnerable. Making a donation or leaving a bequest is one way that you can say 'thanks'.

Your gift helps us to fund projects that make a real difference for health services right here in Canterbury.

  • Make a difference for our community today, our children, and our children’s children by leaving a gift in your will to the Māia Health Foundation.

What is a bequest or legacy?

A bequest, a legacy or a gift in your will is a promise you make to give money to an individual, charity, or organisation after your death. By making a gift in your will, you take control of the legacy you leave. It is one of the most powerful gifts you can give.

Why make a gift in your will?

Many people find peace and security in the knowledge that beyond their own lives, their legacy will live on and they will continue to make a difference. Most people find the process empowering - it gives you the chance to make a long-term impact on the future.

Why make a gift in your will to Māia?

Māia Health Foundation is a highly regarded organisation with a proven track record of success. Our support extends beyond a single hospital or service, encompassing the entire health system in Canterbury and the wider South Island; with over $10 million raised and directly invested back into the health system. By leaving a gift in your will to Māia, you leave a lasting legacy to your community and future generations. We are committed to bringing your wishes to life, and you can trust that 100% of your gift will be dedicated to realising your vision for our shared future.

What is the process for making a gift in your will?

Imagine the difference you can make. Share your intention to leave a gift in your will with your loved ones, so they can support us in fulfilling your vision. You have the choice of whether to publicly recognise your gift or keep it private, and we will respect your decision. Informing us about your planned gift allows us to express gratitude, provide information, and ensure your wishes are honoured. As needs may change over time, we encourage flexibility in your gift. Rest assured that we will allocate it where it is most needed, making the greatest impact. For more information or assistance, please contact Talei by email or 020 4135 0654. We're here to support you!
