Your Contribution: how you can help us make a difference.

It takes a community to make our health services even better.

Māia Health Foundation is the official charity of Te Whatu Ora Health NZ Waitaha Canterbury.

Māia helps raise and manage funds for specialist areas within the health system. We work closely with Te Whatu Ora and other service areas to raise funds for projects that are not always publicly funded.

We've helped to fund a large future-proofed rooftop helipad for Christchurch Hospital Hagley, enhancements for the new children’s facilities, improvements at Burwood Spinal Unit, and other projects that without community fundraising may simply not have happened.

  • Healthcare workers are committed to providing patients with the best treatment and care during a time when they are at their most vulnerable. Making a donation or leaving a bequest is one way that you can say 'thanks'. Your gift helps us to fund projects that make a real difference for health services right here in Canterbury.

    Donation payment options:

    1. Visit Māia's secure payment page to contribute. Select ‘Te Whatu Ora’ from the drop-down menu and in the 'Comments' section record where you want your donation to go.

    2. Or if you prefer to make a payment by direct credit the bank account is: 03-1700-0303533-01. Please note your name and contact number in the 'Reference' field so that we can send a donation receipt.

As Māia Health Foundation is a registered charity, when you choose to make a donation to the Te Whatu Ora Health NZ Waitaha Canterbury via Māia you may be eligible for a 33.3% tax credit.

  • You can specify where to allocate your donation, such as ICU or the Burwood Hospital Therapy Garden, or you can make a general donation – we will then ensure that it’s allocated to where it’s needed most. All funds donated through Māia Health Foundation to the Te Whatu Ora Health NZ are ‘tagged’ for the purpose for which they are gifted.
