Māia welcomes new Trustee, Gabrielle Huria.
Gabrielle has extensive governance expertise in health, the environment, and communications. She is the outgoing Deputy Chair of the Canterbury District Health Board, and the Chief Executive of Te Kura Taka Pini – the Ngāi Tahu company set up to work strategically with freshwater in the Ngāi Tahu takiwā/ tribal area.
Gabrielle was Chair of Tahu Communications and the Whanau Ora Te Waipounamu Regional Leadership Team.
She has a long history in Ngāi Tahu tribal negotiations, community development and wellbeing. As the inaugural Chair of Māori and Pacific mental health provider Emerge Aotearoa, she led the organisation to become a leading NGO.
In 2018 Gabrielle was awarded an MNZM insignia for her services to Māori and governance.
