We love it when people are passionate about our projects and organise fundraisers for Māia!
Meet Benjamin.
Benjamin is passionate about raising awareness around mental health.
“So many people I know, including myself grew up with mental health issues but at the time people around me didn’t know what they were going through, growing up no-one really talked about these things.”
“For the last few years I’ve been working out a way I can help to make sure there is adequate support for children and youth in this space, Māia’s project definitely resonated with me.”
Benjamin has been involved in music for many years and decided to approach 22 artists from around New Zealand, to donate a track for a compilation release. Some of the artists from this compilation played at the recent launch event.
All the artists who contributed were told the release was to raise money for Youth Mental Health, and the album was formed around this concept.
The result is an electronic album that follows an emotional journey, some tracks are heavy, dark and raw and others are floaty and ambient.
Released on Bandcamp and streaming on Soundcloud, Benjamin is hoping that he can sell enough albums to make a significant contribution to the build of 'Kahurangi', the modern, fit-for-purpose outpatient facility for Child and Youth Mental Health that is so needed for our region.
Thank you, Ben, for choosing Māia Health Foundation as your charity of choice.
